Congratulations, Tigers fans! Thanks to your voting efforts, Brandon Inge has won the 2009 All-Star Game Sprint Final Vote and is on his way to the 2009 All-Star Game next week. Inge's "Bran-Torino" partner, Phillies outfielder Shane Victorino, took home the National League honors.
"We're thrilled Brandon has been voted to join his teammates to represent the Detroit Tigers at the All-Star Game," said Detroit Tigers President, CEO and General Manager David Dombrowski. "It's a tremendous honor to have such an opportunity. We especially want to thank all Tigers fans for their passionate support in the voting process."
Inge will join Tigers starters Justin Verlander and Edwin Jackson, whose dominant pitching has been a big reason for Detroit's lead atop the American League Central. They will meet up wtih center fielder and leadoff man Curtis Granderson at the Midsummer Classic July 14 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. It marks the second time in three years that the Tigers have had as many as three players in the All-Star Game.
